A woman was killed and a man injured when gunfire erupted at a party on Chicago’s Far South Side late Saturday, according to police.

Authorities said the shooting occurred in the 100 block of East 117th Place in the city’s West Pullman neighborhood.

Just before midnight, someone inside an apartment party opened fire, according to police, striking two people.

A 29-year-old woman was shot in the head and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where she later died, according to police.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality and further details, including the victim’s identity, were not available.

A 25-year-old man was shot in the right leg, officials said, and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition.

Emotions ran high at the scene of the shooting overnight, as tensions grew in a large group standing outside by the crime tape.

No one is in custody, according to police, and Area South detectives continue to investigate.
