The bodies of five adults and one child were found at a home on Chicago's Southwest Side Thursday afternoon, according to police.
Officers performed a well-being check at a Gage Park house about 1:05 p.m. in the 5700 block of South California after a co-worker of a man who lives in the house said he had not shown up for two days.
During the check, police said they discovered the bodies of four men, one woman and one child around the age of 10 or 12 of an unknown sex who lived in the home.
There were signs of trauma on the bodies, though police said there is no threat to the community.
It is not clear if the victims were related but it is probable, police said. Several families lived in the house.
Police are investigating the incident as a homicide.
The identities of the victims have not been released as officers are waiting for the medical examiner to enter the home.
Florentino Carranza said he has worked with one of the male victims at O'Hare for seven years, saying he was a "good man" with a "good personality."
Friends of the woman are in shock.
