Authorities: Teen Said ‘Dexter' Inspired Brother's Murder

A 17-year-old murder suspect has told authorities he identified with Showtime serial killer "Dexter," according to ABC News.

Indiana youth Anthony Conley, who is charged with the murder of his 10-year-old brother, Conner, reportedly told authorities the TV show inspired him.

"Conley said that he just 'felt like [Dexter],'" Dearborn-Ohio County Prosecutor Aaron Negangard told ABC News.

Conley allegedly strangled his brother last Saturday night.

Negangard told ABC News the teen turned himself in the following day.

"He analogized the murder to when someone wants a hamburger," Negangard continued. "He said that when someone wants a hamburger they've just got to have it."

The troubled teen reportedly told authorities he'd had difficulty sleeping and had recently been pulled out of school for unknown reasons.

Showtime had no comment to ABCNews.com.

According to the site, the murder was the second such situation allegedly linked to the popular show, now in its fourth season – 29-year-old Mark Twitchell, reportedly considered a "fervid fan" of the show, imitated a "Dexter" storyline in his alleged killing of 39-year-old Johnny Altinger in 2008.
