Chicago police say 16 demonstrators have been arrested following a small protest against police-involved shootings that blocked evening traffic near Chicago's financial district.
Police spokesman Veejay Zala said late Tuesday that charges were pending. He had no other details.
Earlier in the evening, a small crowd of protesters with lights blocked the street. Police redirected traffic in the area which is near an interstate.
Similar protests have occurred often since the city released a squad car video last month showing a white police officer fatally shooting a black teenager 16 times. Officer Jason Van Dyke has been charged with murder in the 2014 death of Laquan McDonald.
The demonstration was organized by the Chicago Light Brigade. Organizers say 16 protesters participated to represent the number of times McDonald was shot.
