Scott Marshall, a former winner of the reality show “Ink Master,” was found dead in a hotel in the suburban Chicago village of Roselle on Sunday.
Marshall, who was 41 years old, was a tattoo artist with Roselle Tattoo Company and lived in Plainfield.
Roselle Police told the Chicago Tribune that authorities responded to a report of an unresponsive guest just before 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Holiday Inn Express at 1490 W. Lake St. A death investigation was ongoing.
Marshall’s wife, Johanna, told TMZ that Marshall told her he wasn’t feeling well Saturday and decided to get a hotel room after work instead of driving home.
Johanna said police officers arrived at her home Sunday where they told her that her husband had passed away in his sleep, TMZ reported, and that authorities told her preliminary autopsy results show it was unspecified heart issue.
Johanna Marshall could not immediately be reached for comment by NBC Chicago. The coroner would only confirm the death is under investigation.
On Tuesday, Roselle Tattoo Company posted about Marshall’s death on its Facebook page.
