Cubs Reportedly Hire Dan Kantrovitz as Scouting Director

Kantrovitz previously worked for the Oakland A's and St. Louis Cardinals

The Chicago Cubs have made some big changes to their scouting and personnel departments this offseason, and the team has reportedly made another hire, bringing in Dan Kantrovitz as their scouting director.

The hire was first reported by 670 the Score’s Bruce Levine, and was later confirmed by other reporters, including MLB.com's Jordan Bastian.

Kantrovitz had spent the last five seasons with the Oakland Athletics, most recently serving as the team’s assistant general manager. According to the team, his area of focus was statistical analysis for evaluating players in the amateur draft and in free agency.

Prior to his stint with the A’s, Kantrovitz spent three seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals as their director of scouting.

Kantorvitz is stepping into the void left by the promotion of Jason McLeod to the team’s Player Personnel department. McLeod had spent the last eight seasons as the Cubs’ Senior VP of Amateur Scouting and Player Development, and was transitioned into his new role in the Player Personnel department in September.

The Cubs are still working on reorganizing their front office, a process made even more challenging with the departure of assistant G.M. Scott Harris, who was hired as the new general manager of the San Francisco Giants.
