Cubs Well Represented on List of Best Players in MLB

The Cubs have seven players on the list, while the White Sox have one

The Chicago Cubs have had an inconsistent start to the season, but according to a new ranking, their roster is chock full of guys capable of turning things around.

ESPN released its list of the top 100 players in Major League Baseball, and the Cubs are well-represented with seven different players on the list.

Third baseman Kris Bryant is the top Chicago player on the list, checking in at number 12. Bryant clubbed 94 home runs in his first three big league seasons, and racked up a 19.7 WAR in those years, both of which are Cubs records.

Starting pitcher Yu Darvish checked in at number 43 on the list, and first baseman Anthony Rizzo will have to take a lot of grief from Bryant, as he finished in the 21st position.

Catcher Willson Contreras (74), and starting pitchers Jose Quintana (75), Kyle Hendricks (68) and Jon Lester (62) all the made the cut as well.

Only one Chicago White Sox player made the list, as first baseman Jose Abreu made the ranking at number 40.

The list was created by ESPN’s writers and baseball experts, according to the station’s website.
