Teen Battling Cancer Gets Wrigley Field Invite From Jon Lester

After a huge college football’s battle against cancer turned him into a national sensation, he got an awesome gift from Chicago Cubs pitcher Jon Lester.

Tyler Trent, whose courageous story went viral after he attended Purdue’s big win over Ohio State in West Lafayette last week, has had a whirlwind week, appearing on “Sportscenter” and other nationally-televised shows, and now he’ll be heading to Wrigley Field next year.

On Thursday, Lester invited Trent to opening day at the Friendly Confines:

On Friday, Trent tweeted that he had gotten a care-package from Lester, who also battled cancer early in his baseball career:

Trent is battling terminal bone cancer, which has already claimed his right arm, and is raising money to fight the disease. He is currently raising money for the Riley Dance Marathon, an event dedicated to funding pediatric cancer research. He has raised nearly $76,000, and is planning on participating in the event.
