Wrigley Field’s iconic marquee came down Monday as the field continues its scheduled renovation plans.
The sign is being moved so that it can be restored and refurbished, and with approval, be brought up to date for the digital age.
The move kicks off phase two of renovations at Wrigley Field, one that will see major upgrades to the dugouts and bullpens.
The construction project will close down several streets in the area.
The sign wasn't the only thing being removed from the ballpark this week. The Cubs are also removing the grass in the field, placing 18"x18" sections of sod outside for fans to take home free of charge. The sod will be available through Tuesday on a first-come, first-served basis.
