Rizzo gears up for 2022 season, takes pitch to chest originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
Former Chicago Cub Anthony Rizzo is gearing up for the 2022 season and looked a little like Happy Gilmore during his latest batting practice.
Ian Happ captured Rizzo taking a fastball to the chest and shared it on his Instagram Friday.
Rizzo, who is currently a free agent, is the active leader for getting hit by pitches (178). The New York Yankees acquired Rizzo from the Cubs last July.
There's a lot of wondering where Rizzo might end up next, but it could be back in the Bronx, according to Bob Nightengale.
"He could end up with the Yankees," Nightengale told NBC Sports Chicago's David Kaplan Tuesday on The Rush. "The Yankees liked him an awful lot."
In his three months with the Yankees, Rizzo totaled eight home runs and 21 RBIs in 49 games.
