Lukas Reichel makes Germany's 2021 World Juniors team originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Lukas Reichel, the Blackhawks' No. 17 overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, made the preliminary roster for Germany's under-20 World Junior team. The rosters were originally revealed by the German Ice Hockey Federation early Wednesday morning. 

The 2021 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship will be in Edmonton, Alberta, from Dec. 25, 2020 to Jan. 5, 2021.

Reichel, 18, played against the Hawks in an exhibition game with Eisbären Berlin of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga in Germany last year before the Blackhawks traveled to Prague to open the season against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The forward recorded 24 points (12 goals, 12 assists) in 42 games last year for Eisbären Berlin. He also recorded five points (two goals, three assists) in seven games for Germany at the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship.
