DeMar DeRozan name-drops Zach LaVine in new song originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
Fans of the Chicago Bulls know that DeMar DeRozan, who signed with the team in August, is a four-time NBA All-Star, lethal isolation scorer and savvy facilitator on the court.
But what they might not know is that the former Raptors and Spurs star is also trying his hand as a rapper.
Late Monday night, DeRozan and Problem, a rapper who also hails from Compton, released a track titled "500 M Liquid."
DeRozan's verse begins at roughly the two-minute mark and features a few NBA-related lines. Most pertinent to Chicago fans, though, is this shoutout to Zach LaVine:
Moved to the Windy City, top five we gonna win. Zach LaVine from the line, all you clowns on the pine. Count it out, just fine.
That snippet echoes a sentiment DeRozan expressed in his introductory presser when he dismissed any "fit" concerns with the new-look Bulls.

“It's basketball," DeRozan said then. "Lot of people I see criticizing, talking about ‘fit this, fit that’ have probably never even played basketball."
DeRozan and LaVine figure to form a potent offensive pairing on the perimeter when the 2021-22 season tips off. It appears their off-the-floor chemistry is off to a good start as well.
