White Sox set their Opening Day roster originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
The White Sox have officially set their Opening Day roster. Due to an abbreviated Spring Training, MLB decided to allow teams to carry 28 players on the roster through May 1, instead of the typical 26 players. The Sox decided to divvy that up with 14 position players and 14 pitchers.
There are several new names on the South Side this season, like A.J. Pollock, Josh Harrison and Kendall Graveman. There was one surprise omission, as Yoan Moncada was sent to the 10-Day IL to start the season. Moncada was scratched from the team’s final Spring Training game with a side injury, but at the time it was thought it would not affect his availability for the start of the season
