The Cubs selected Wicks 21st overall in the 2021 MLB Draft this past Sunday. The 21-year-old pitched three seasons at Kansas State University and is the school's first baseball player drafted in the first round.
The left-hander's changeup was rated as the best among college pitchers in the draft, according to Baseball America. His command was rated third.
He also wields a mid-90s fastball and two breaking pitches.
