Cubs, Sox fans have reasons to get amped for Sunday nights originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
The national audience will get a chance to watch some Chicago baseball right off the crack of the bat in 2021.
ESPN has released its Sunday Night Baseball schedule for the first half of the 2021 season, featuring both the Cubs and White Sox. The South Siders will kick off the Sunday night slate on April 4, with a road matchup against Mike Trout and the Angels, starting at 7:30 p.m. CT.
On April 18, the Cubs will play host to the Braves, who are coming off an NLCS appearance, with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. It’s the first of two Sunday night games for the Cubs in the 2021 first half, as they’ll also play the rival Cardinals in St. Louis on May 23 — also starting at 6 p.m.
Second half games will be announced at a later date.
Opening Day 2021 is scheduled for April 1, though there’s some uncertainty around whether the season will start on time due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Clubs have been told to prepare to show up to spring training on time, but also the possibility that it could be delayed.
