Cubs wrap up worst homestand in almost 80 years originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
The last time the Cubs had a homestand this bad, their World Series drought was only about 35 years old.
Thursday's loss to the Brewers capped off an 0-7 stretch at Wrigley Field for the Cubs, their first win-less homestand of seven or more games in almost 80 years.
You have to go all the way back to Sept. 3-11, 1943, when the Cubs lost three games to the Pirates, two the Reds and two to the Cardinals.
The White Sox and Brewers, first in the AL and Central divisions, each swept the Cubs in the last week.
Milwaukee did so in dominant fashion, outscoring the Cubs 37-9 in the four-game series, including 10-0 on Wednesday and 17-4 on Thursday.
All said, the Cubs were outscored 58-18 in the seven games.
Meanwhile, the Cubs' losing streak is inching closer to their historic 11-gamer from earlier this season. Thursday's loss was their eighth straight.
