Famous Chicago Bears Enemies and Their Windy City Records

NFL records against Chicago Bears held by Aaron Rodgers, others originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Ownership and the Chicago Bears have been making a lot of headlines together recently.

And while Aaron Rodgers' latest domination of the his Windy City rivals is worth causing some stir, he remains one win behind -- for at least another season -- Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre, who has 23 career wins versus Chicago.

Rodgers and Favre might be co-opting some Bears ownership for now, but they're not the only record holders against Chicago.

Here's a look some other NFL players who have had big days at the expense of the Bears.

Most passing yards vs. Chicago Bears in a single game

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Vince Ferragamo threw for 509 yards and three touchdowns in a losing effort against Mike Ditka and the Chicago Bears on Dec. 26, 1982.

Three years later, Ditka and Buddy Ryan's 46 defense helped lead to the Bears to a Super Bowl XX victory over the New England Patriots.

Most rushing yards vs. Chicago Bears in a single game

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson rushed for 224 yards on 20 carries against the Bears on Oct. 14, 2007. Peterson's three-touchdown effort propelled the Vikings to a 34-31 home win over their NFC North foe.

A longtime Chicago nemesis, Peterson has 358 career carries against the Bears for 1,749 yards. In 17 games against the Bears, he has recorded 16 touchdowns.

Most receiving yards vs. Chicago Bears in a single game

San Francisco 49ers legend Terrell Owens hauled in 20 receptions for 283 yards and a touchdown against Chicago in a 17-0 victory on Dec. 17, 2000.

Owens' receptions (20), targets (22) and yards (283) are all single game records versus the Bears. The receptions place Owens fifth all-time in NFL single-game history.

T.O. is tied for fourth in most targets and 10th in most receiving yards in a single NFL game.

Most yards on a single play vs. Chicago Bears

David Johnson took a 108-yard opening kick to the house against the Bears as a rookie in 2015 at Soldier Field.

In the Bears' 102-year history, Chicago fans have seen three players achieve this feat -- fortunately, two of them have played for the home team.

Special teams legend Devin Hester did it against the New York Giants in a key November 2006 game at the Meadowlands. A year earlier, Nathan Vasher set the then-NFL record for longest play when he returned Joe Nedney's missed field goal for 108 yards the other way.

Most touchdowns vs. Chicago Bears in a single game

Longest play isn't the only NFL record where Chicago's name pops up a few times.

Bears legend Gale Sayers is tied with two other NFL players for most touchdowns (six) scored in a single game.

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara did it most recently on Christmas 2020. But before Kamara and the Kansas Comet was a Cleveland Brown halfback who went by the name of Dub Jones and recorded six touchdowns in a 42-21 win over the Bears on Nov. 25, 1951 -- a record that stands 70 years later.

Most career touchdowns vs. Chicago Bears

Rodgers eclipsed Favre's mark of 60 career touchdowns versus Chicago during Sunday's game, rifling four touchdown passes to reach 61 career touchdowns against the Bears.

Rodgers first claimed he owned the Bears when he and the Packers won a Week 6 contest at Soldier Field. The reigning NFL MVP cemented that case in Week 14.

Rodgers now owns a 23-5 record against the Bears. His monster six-TD performance in 2014 remains the single-game passing TD record versus Chicago.

Most career wins vs. Chicago Bears

Favre still owns this record with 23 career win against the Bears, but Rodgers has a better winning percentage overall and much fewer interceptions than his predecessor.

Rodgers' trouncing of Chicago has been so consistency some NFL fans have begun to ponder if the Packers QB could beat the Bears watching from the Lambeau Field stands.

What NFL team has the most wins?

The Chicago Bears own the distinction of having the most wins in NFL history by a single franchise.

The team's record is 781-608-42 overall. Chicago has played the most games in NFL history.

The Packers have the second most wins with 779 total. Green Bay could surpass the Bears by the end of the 2021 NFL season.
