Victor Caratini catches another no-hitter originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
Former Cubs catcher Victor Caratini has caught another no-hitter.
On Friday night, San Diego native Joe Musgrove threw the first no-hitter in Padres history. That right there is the stuff of a Hollywood script. And Caratini was behind the plate.
The last no-hitter Caratini caught was Alec Mills' against the Brewers in September of the 2020 season.
That also means that Caratini has caught the last two major-league no-hitters.
Boston Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek and Philadelphia Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz are tied for the record for most no-hitters caught by a catcher with four. That means Caratini is half-way to the record in a span of seven months.
And Mills congratulated Musgrove on Twitter with a special shout out to his former catcher.
Huge congrats to Caratini.
