Chiefs hire Matt Nagy as quarterbacks coach originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
Matt Nagy is reuniting with his mentor Andy Reid. The Chiefs announced on Friday that they hired Nagy as a senior assistant/quarterbacks coach.
Nagy worked under Reid from 2008-2017. He started as a coaching intern for Reid in Philadelphia and was eventually promoted to offensive quality control coach in 2011. When Reid took the Chiefs job in 2012, he took Nagy along and made him quarterbacks coach. In 2016, Reid made Nagy the Chiefs offensive coordinator, a job he held for two seasons before becoming the Bears head coach in 2018.
Nagy will now get to work with Patrick Mahomes again, after reportedly being one of his supporters when the Chiefs drafted Mahomes in 2017. He will report to Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy and Reid.
