We're halfway through the 2021 MLB Draft, and the Cubs went in a different direction with in the second round from their first-round pick.
Sunday night, they selected college starting pitcher Jordan Wicks from Kansas State in the first round, 21st overall.
Monday, in Round 2, they picked James Triantos, an 18-year-old prep infielder, 56th overall.
Overall, the Cubs added a diverse assortment of players across a variety of positions with their nine selections on Monday, including one catcher, two infielders, three outfielders and three pitchers.
They'll put a bow on their draft class Tuesday, the final day of the 2021 MLB Draft, with 10 more selections in Rounds 11-20.
