Mets want Kris Bryant or Javy Báez, with Zach Davies originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
Welcome to Tom Ricketts bazaar, Steve Cohen. What beloved Chicago Cubs would you like to add to the Mets?
According to reports, the Mets want starting pitcher Zach Davies but they're also eyeing a piece of the remaining Cubs championship core: Kris Bryant and Javier Báez.
FOX's Ken Rosenthal confirmed hearing combination deals but reiterated that nothing is close yet.
While a deal might not be close this morning, with the trade deadline this afternoon things can pick up in a hurry.
As for Báez, he's already stated publicly he'd like to play alongside Francisco Lindor, the Mets shortstop, albeit he said as a free agent.
"If I go to the free agency, I would like to play with Francisco Lindor," Báez said. "I loved playing with him in the World Classic. It is the only option I would take to play second base if it is to play with him, otherwise I stay playing at shortstop."

In the short-term, Báez could fill Lindor's hole at shortstop after Lindor suffered a Grade 2 right oblique strain a couple weeks ago. When Lindor returns, Báez could then shift to second base.
As for Kris Bryant, he'd be reuniting the Bryzzo duo in New York albeit in different boroughs. The Cubs traded Anthony Rizzo to the New York Yankees on Thursday.
