The Northwestern Wildcats and Nebraska Cornhuskers will open their 2022 season in Dublin, Ireland, as part of the Aer Lingus College Football Classic.
The Week Zero game will be played at Aviva Stadium on Aug. 27, 2022, and the winner will take home the Keough-Naughton trophy.
Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald expressed excitement for the incredible opportunity to play in Ireland next year.
"We are thrilled that our program will get to experience the beautiful Irish culture, while we continue to help grow the game of college football on a global stage," Fitzgerald said.
"It's an honor to be included in this once-in-a-lifetime event, and we can't wait to have the Northwestern faithful join us in one of the world's most amazing settings."
The 2022 College Football Classic will mark the third time in the past decade that a college football game is played in Ireland. Notre Dame beat Navy in 2012 and Georgia Tech defeated Boston College in 2016.
