Vandersloot cracks top 10 in WNBA jersey sales for first time originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
With the WNBA Finals between the Seattle Storm and Las Vegas Aces set to tip off Friday, the league released jersey sale rankings from the 2020 regular season.
The Sky's Courtney Vandersloot, who earned first-team all-WNBA honors and became the first player in league history to average 10 assists per game, landed ninth. Per a release from the league, it's her first season cracking the top 10. Fitting for the best individual season of her decorated career.
Here are the top 10 players:
- Sue Bird, Seattle Storm
- Diana Taurasi, Phoenix Mercury
- Candace Parker, Los Angeles Sparks
- Sabrina Ionescu, New York Liberty
- Maya Moore, Minnesota Lynx
- A'ja Wilson, Las Vegas Aces
- Breanna Stewart, Seattle Storm
- Elena Delle Donne, Washington Mystics
- Courtney Vandersloot, Chicago Sky
- Satou Sabally, Dallas Wings
And the top 5 teams:
- Seattle Storm
- New York Liberty
- Los Angeles Sparks
- Las Vegas Aces
- Minnesota Lynx
Vandersloot also finished fourth in MVP voting (receiving one first-place vote) and on Aug. 31 set the WNBA single-game assist record with 18 against the Indiana Fever. Her 13.6 points per game average was the highest mark of her career. For the fourth year in a row, she broke the league's season-long assist per game record.
Though the Sky's season ended in a first-round, single-elimination playoff defeat to the Connecticut Sun, it was certainly one to remember for Vandersloot. And for the team, which, amid a season dedicated to social justice, raised over $100,000 for Chicago community organizations while playing.
