Sox hire Nicky Delmonico as minor league hitting coach originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
A familiar face has returned to the Chicago White Sox organization.
Nicky Delmonico, a former outfielder who played on the South Side during parts of four big league seasons, was announced as the new hitting coach at Class A Winston-Salem on Wednesday, part of the team announcing its entire player-development staff for 2022.
Delmonico was a staple of the White Sox' rebuilding-era teams, appearing in 158 games from 2017 to 2020. His most successful stretch came in his first taste of the majors, when he posted an .856 OPS in 43 games. After that, he struggled with significant injuries and a lack of success at the plate, with a cumulative .633 OPS over 115 games across three seasons.

Now, the former fan favorite will be helping to groom the future of the organization as the hitting coach at the White Sox' High A affiliate, where former teammate Danny Farquhar is the pitching coach.
Delmonico was one of just a host of staff members officially announced for the 2022 season.
Managing the White Sox' four affiliates will be Wes Helms (Triple-A Charlotte), Justin Jirschele (Double-A Birmingham), Lorenzo Bundy (Winston-Salem) and Guillermo Quiroz (Class A Kannapolis). Helms, Jirschele and Quiroz all return to the posts they held in 2021, while Bundy is a newcomer to the White Sox organization, having managed for 13 years prior, including in the New York Mets organization last year.
Additionally, Patrick Leyland, the son of former major league manager Jim Leyland, will manage the White Sox' Arizona League team after having served as the Kannapolis bench coach last year.
