The Sweet 16 of 2025 women's March Madness began with 33 perfect brackets remaining. After three games, that number has dropped below 10.
In the opening NCAA Tournament regional semifinal on Friday, No. 2 Duke defeated No. 3 UNC to become the first team to advance to this year's Elite Eight. The Blue Devils' victory left 19 unblemished brackets across major online games, according to the NCAA.
One more perfect bracket was wiped out when defending champion No. 1 South Carolina held on to beat No. 4 Maryland before No. 3 LSU's win over No. 2 NC State eliminated nine others.
The Friday slate of Sweet 16 action will end with either nine perfect brackets left or none at all. That's because all of the remaining brackets picked No. 1 UCLA to beat No. 5 Ole Miss, according to the NCAA.
How many women's March Madness brackets were submitted?
The NCAA said there were approximately 5 million women's bracket submissions across major online games (NCAA Women's Bracket Challenge Game, ESPN, CBS, Yahoo and USA TODAY). Roughly 83,000 brackets survived the opening day of the tournament and around 2,500 made it out of the first round.
The second and final day of Round 2 action began with 141 perfect brackets remaining, and 33 of those reached the Sweet 16.
For comparison, just four brackets made it out of last year's second round unscathed, per the NCAA. The final unblemished bracket went down during the Sweet 16 in the 51st game of the Big Dance.

There weren't any perfect brackets left by the time the men's second round wrapped up. The final unblemished bracket fell in the 43rd game -- No. 3 Kentucky's second-round win over No. 6 Illinois.
This was the first time since 2019 that all men's brackets weren't busted in the first round. There were 181 perfect brackets left entering the second round.
