Matt Turner to the rescue.
The U.S. men's national team goalie made a remarkable save in the 64th minute off a header from Wales' defender Ben Davies that turned out to be one of the most important plays of the match.
The legendary save preserved the USMNT's 1-0 lead after a first half goal by forward Timothy Weah.
Moments later, Wales' winger Gareth Bale evened the playing field off of a penalty kick, scoring the Land of Castles' first World Cup goal in 64 years.
At 1-1 after 90 minutes of play, nine minutes were added to the clock, but with no follow up goals, the match ended in a tie.
If it weren’t for Turner, we could’ve very well seen the U.S. go down in their first World Cup match in eight years.
The U.S. returns to action in a Group B showdown against England on Friday, Nov. 25. The coverage can be seen on Fox and Peacock in Spanish.
