The men’s triathlon got off to a rocky start when only half the athletes could dive into the water for the swimming leg. A boat was directly in front of the other swimmers when the horn went off, leaving half the field behind on the platform.
The competitors who weren’t blocked dove right in and started the race, swimming for about a minute before race administrators in kayaks were able to row in front of them to alert them about the false start. Great Britain’s Alex Yee was among the athletes who jumped in, but the wasted energy didn’t stop him from finishing with the silver medal.
Here's hoping that the women's event goes off without a hitch! Stream it live on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
