The world’s largest passenger plane made its first regularly scheduled landing at Chicago's O’Hare International Airport Friday at 6:45 p.m.
The A380 “superjumbo” jet has 450 seats in four cabins and will now be used for one of British Airways' two daily flights between O’Hare and London’s Heathrow Airport, according to a press release.
The British Airways flight between London and Chicago is now the first regularly scheduled A380 to fly in and out of O’Hare.
“The A380 is now the queen of the skies,” said Alan Eley, Vice President at British Airways. “It took over from the legacy (Boeing) 747 which is still a beautiful aircraft.”
The plane has a wingspan of 261 feet and is equipped with 97 business class suites.
The airline also stated that passenger capacity will increase by 20 percent on scheduled flights with the A380.
