Kye Martin is the Morning Traffic Reporter at NBC Chicago, and contributes as a General Assignment Reporter for the 11 a.m. newscast.
Kye joined NBC Chicago in July of 2012 after working for Nokia Media as a traffic reporter for four years. During that time she covered Chicago-area roads for WGN-TV and CLTV.
Before moving to the Midwest, Kye, a Seattle Native, worked as a Reporter at KTXL-TV in Sacramento, and as an Anchor and Reporter at KMPH-TV in Fresno. Kye attended the Murrow School of Communications at Washington State University, and graduated with honors in 2001.
Kye also relishes her role off camera, as a mom and a member of the March of Dimes Chicago Board of Directors. Kye and her husband Brandon welcomed their twin boys about a month early, with little Tanner weighing in at about 3 pounds, leading to his two-week NICU-stay at RUSH University Medical Center.
Needless to say, her experience with the NICU, and the technology and research relied upon for Tanner and babies MUCH tinier than him, inspired Kye to use her traditional AND new media skills to promote the March of Dimes’ mission.
In her free time (if she can find it!) Kye loves to do Yoga and play outside with her boys.
