Spotted Lanternfly: Why It Is Illinois' ‘Most Unwanted' Bug

The spotted lanternfly is a federally regulated invasive pest that can “seriously impact the country’s grape, orchard and logging industries” if allowed to spread, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Dr. Doug Taron, chief curator of the Chicago Academy of Sciences at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, tells us when we can expect this colorful bug in Illinois.
