Divvy bicycle stations reopened Thursday morning after nearly a week of closures due to severe winter weather.
Agnecy officials on Tuesday said the bikes would be cleared of snow and the stations checked for problems before riders could again take out bikes.
"It seems Chicago is finally escaping its week of extreme weather and is heading back toward a more regular winter routine," the release said.
Divvy, the city’s newest transit agency, had shut down twice over the past week, from last Thursday to Saturday afternoon and then again Sunday as snowstorms and historically frigid temperatures bore down on Chicago.
Divvy officials announced in October plans to stay open during the winter months, stating the baby blue bikes would be available year-round, "so Chicagoans can bundle up and keep warm by pedaling to their destinations."
The Divvy team said bikers made nearly 45,000 trips with Divvy bikes in December.
