More than 13,000 ComEd customers are without power on Wednesday evening as severe weather hammers the area.
According to the latest numbers released by the utility company, 13,077 customers are without power because of the storms, which are causing serious lightning and wind gusts in excess of 60 miles per hour.
Of those, 9,033 are in Cook County, with just under 1,700 in Lake County in Illinois, according to officials.
Will County also reported 1,304 customers without power.
Severe weather is expected to continue into the early evening, with the area at a “slight” risk of severe storms, per officials.
